Time has passed, and shown Eric's comments to be an astute analysis of the situation.
Virgin has many crosses to bear, as a startup in these troubled times. The one completely avoidable, and portentially fatal problem was and is their choice of an unreliable booking system and website.

This is simply nonsense..the guy who wrote this need to spend on learning the architecture of an Airline Reservation system..the problem here is purely a web page issue and that has nothing to do with a Reservation System working in the back end. If required, I can explian you how it works. That may help you to write it better next time.

Certainly in Europe, one of our great unspoken business issues is the real motivation behind outsourcing everything including the kitchen sink: it means that the parent company does not have to pay out benefits or bother with annoyances like human resources. Outsourcing simply allows them to leave all those trivial matters to another company; however, as the outsourced staff are classified as contract employees, they are not covered under basic working laws and rights. The end result is a frightening percentage of the workforce who work full time for the same companies doing the same job duties, and yet do not have the most basic rights such as sick time, training, or the most fundamental concepts of HR. Beware the company which boasts a staff of thousands, only a few dozen of whom are actual employees.

Rant aside, I was quite pleased with myself for spotting Richard Branson's cameo in "Casino Royale". Did you?
